AACT! The Database <name> could not be accessed problem


Issue

ACT! Displays the following when you try to connect

The   database <Database name> could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software'

Resolution

Please check that the service SQL Server (ACT) is up and running if this isn’t running please start the service and re-check ACT! Also check that the service SQL Server Browser and SQL Server VSS writer are running.
